hello world

i’ve been thinking about creating a site for quite some time. i don’t remember when, but a couple of years ago i saw a girl who decided to quit social media to completely focus on her personal website. there she would post all of her photos, thoughts, share her collections, etc., and since then i’ve been dealing with this little angel on my shoulder saying, “you need to do that.” well… here i am.

at first i did not intend to actually quit social media. i don’t hate instagram; there i can share recipe reels with my mom and, since i live far from her, it is one of our main points of contact. i also like keeping up with my friends’ lives; however, i do feel the need to step a little bit away from the always-online life and spend more time on something that truly means something to me, something that i will visit 10 years later and look at with proud eyes, like, “this is me.”

well, i am about to create the “about me” page here, but since this is my first blog post, i need to present myself here: my name is gabryel, but everyone on the internet calls me gabe. i am a 23 (almost 24) year-old guy from são paulo, brazil, who is currently living in buenos aires, argentina. i work in the tech industry; however, i have no coding background, so this site is my very first time actually working with anything that involves coding that is not related to a university project (i kindly ask you not to check my html, everything is a flex box, that’s the only feature that i know how to properly use hahah).

i love lots of things, from nostalgic y2k gadgets, justifying the theme of the website, i truly love the nintendo wii haha, to theology studies. speaking of which, i’m catholic, and i truly love being a christian. i don’t intend to turn this site into a religious blog, but i think it’s something important to mention about myself (there are a few hints around the site if you know a bit of japanese).

oh! i am also an avid language learner, i loooove languages. at this moment i am fluent in portuguese, english, and spanish, and currently studying japanese and french. i am one language away from being a polyglot, so exciting!

art is a huge part of my life. i do not have any relevant skills, but i am always talking about art-related themes. there’ll be a gallery page here where i intend to post some of the photos that i take during my sightseeing.

well guys, i do not know what to say anymore. these kinds of introductory blog posts are boring, i know, but they need to be made haha. soon i will write more entries so we can discuss fun themes. i just started playing zelda botw (i know, i know, i am late) and i have no one to talk about that, followed by my current obsession with animal crossing: new horizons… (considering making an acnh dedicated shrine here)…
